Op 1 augustus 2013 werd Dirk Decuypere officieel benoemd door de bisschoppenconferentie tot geestelijk directeur van Leo XIII seminarie. Hij volgt er Adelbert Denaux op.
Dirk werd priester gewijd in 1996. Hij woonde en werkte in Ieper waar hij in het Sint-Vincentius-college studiemeester/opvoeder was en 16 jaar les gaf. Hij is nationaal proost van de beste jeugdbewegingen KSJ-KSA-VKSJ (sinds 2003) en van KLJ (sinds 2012). Jarenlang speelde hij klarinet en hij heeft een passie voor auto's.

You've probably seen the pictures on Picasa: the year has started with a bang. For the first time ever Leo XIII organized a starting weekend which kicked off with a laser shooting. Alliances were forged and ruthless killers were born. But you probably haven't seen the pictures of the superb music quiz organized by Kaat, Bram and Michiel on Sunday morning. Although turbulent events from the night before made singing and dancing an arduous task, it turned out to be a major hit. These were just one of the many fantastic events that made unbreakable bonds between Leo XIII students forever...and ever...and ever!

The best part of the weekend was undoubtedly crossing  the imaginary boundaries which separates groups from each other. That 'guy' from the other group just got a name and maybe he became your new BFF. If so: congratulations!

The first week of the academic year turned out to be extremely chaotic and confusing with classes being suddenly cancelled or even worse: no classes at all! This leading to a lot of people constantly wandering the many places of Leo XIII....especially on Monday.

Tonight Leo XIII's famous opening barbeque is taking place: countless drinks and piles of meal will provide a nice atmosphere to enjoy each other's company. Yet another occasion to unite us as one big family and to create a stairway to a grand year filled with laughter, joy and friendship.

We leave you with a (translated) quote said at the openings ceremony by our dearly beloved rector Rik Torf... Feel inspired: 'Don't resign yourselves to the university which you think it is. It's never too late to start dreaming. It is always too early to stop doing that.'

With renewed enthusiasm we welcome a new academic year with a lot of activities.

Coming weekend, we have our startweekend with exploring our magnificent buildings by the lasershooting game, city game, music contest, cantus...

Tuesday 24/09 we have Taizé prayer at 8 pm in our chapel.

Wednesday 25/09 we have the (Dutch) student Mass (8 pm) and reception

The first Thursday is traditionally reserved for our famous OPENING BARBECUE!

A lot of people already moved in and out the previous days. Today Sr. Flower is moving out and four other sisters from her convent are helping her. Starting a new academic year means welcoming new students, but also saying goobye to others. Many thanks to all the students who are leaving now Leo XIII seminary for their commitment previous year(s)! We wish you all the best!

Op 10 juli 2013 is Cecile (officieel Maria Josepha) Dries na een korte ziekte overleden in het H. Hartziekenhuis te Leuven. Ze werd net geen 76 jaar.

Zij trad in dienst op Leo XIII seminarie toen de zusters er nog waren, halfweg de jaren '60. Gedurende een dertigtal jaren was zij een welbekende hulp in het huishouden van het Leo XIII seminarie.  Velen zullen haar enthousiasme en dienstbaarheid maar ook haar eigenzinnigheid herinneren.

In 1995 werd zij opgenomen in rusthuis Remy.  Leo XIII seminarie is haar leven geweest, haar dierbaarste herinnering. Moge ze rusten in vrede.
